Advent and Christmas: To Folks Like Us

Categories: Events

Advent is a season of waiting and of anticipation. We remember how the people of old waited for the coming of the Messiah, just as we wait for Christ to come again.
And so we wait with excitement to celebrate the birth of our Lord Jesus the Christ – and yet we wait also with a sense of longing for Christ to come again and bring in the new creation in its fullness.
During Advent, our worship service sermons will focus on some of the people who were involved in the biblical Christmas story: Mary, Zechariah, Elizabeth, Joseph and the shepherds. What were these people like? What were their needs? What were their gifts? How did their encounter with God change them? We will ponder how Jesus came to regular folks – folks such as these – and TO FOLKS LIKE US.
