As the people of God in the 21st century, we often look to the New Testament for spiritual guidance and nourishment. But as we do, we must not forget that the Old Testament is also God’s Word. Moreover, the Old Testament helps us to understand the New Testament by providing the context we need to understand Jesus’ life and ministry.
Over the next few weeks, we will be looking at First Samuel to see how the God of the Israelites, Yahweh, interacted with his people at that time. We will see how this was a foreshadowing of the Gospel story – a story of God’s love and faithfulness that made itself most fully known through the life and death of Jesus.
